Passion For Design & Real Estate Investment

Amy Jo’s Background:

I grew up in Merrill, a small farm town in the Saginaw/Midland area. I had an aunt that owned a home interiors store in Gaylord and I loved spending time with her and working in the store. She inspired me to get a BA degree in Interior Design from MSU.

I have 28 years of experience doing both commercial and residential design. I’ve worked for General Motors and various architectural firms in Michigan and Indiana until a college friend and I started our own business, Interior Design Source Inc (IDS) where we contracted our interior design services to developers and architectural firms. I later bought a home interiors and women’s boutique store in Midland, MI. I owned that for 8 years before I sold it and moved up to the Traverse City area. I then worked at Hagerty as an interior designer. I earned by PMP (Project Manager Professional) credentials, and was promoted to Manager of Construction Projects.

I have always loved homes – buying them, selling them, renovating them, designing them!  I started flipping homes approximately 7 years ago and found how I staged the home to be key in my quick sales. With encouragement from my friend and realtor (Rebecca), I decided to get my real estate license last year and join the Northern Den Realty team.

Personal: I have 2 daughters: one works in Supply Chain for GM and is engaged to be married next year, and my youngest is a PA in Saginaw. We are a crazy Shih Tzu family as we have 5 between the 3 of us! My pups are named Lily and Poppy.
